Advocating for clear human responsibility in machine-assisted decisions that shape jobs, health, access, and livelihoods.

The Human Systems & AI Accountability Council exists to ensure that when machines influence consequential decisions, humans remain accountable for outcomes. We are building an international community to share ideas, policies and brainstorm about the guardrails, legislation and programs being implemented, as we all adjust to the liminal future of AI. We’re hoping this will grow into a community.

The Accountability Gap

• AI systems now influence hiring, medical prioritization, credit, and public access decisions
• Accountability is often fragmented across tools, vendors, and workflows
• Decisions become difficult to explain, replay, or formally own
• Harm emerges slowly, at scale, and without a clear point of responsibility
• Workers and communities absorb the risk, not the system designers

-When accountability dissolves, trust, fairness, and legitimacy follow.

What We Do
The Human Systems & AI Accountability Council is an International advisory and advocacy body focused on preserving explicit human accountability in machine-assisted decision systems. We translate real-world system risk into governance guidance, policy support, and workforce protections.

International Human Systems & AI Accountability Council advances responsible AI governance in hiring and workforce systems through policy guidance, risk frameworks, and cross-sector accountability. This is a new initiative and we are hoping to form a growing community.
